Prof. Sarah Bartlett Takes Part in Panel on U.S. Financial Crisis
“Saving Wall Street” was the topic of a recent panel discussion featuring Prof. Sarah Bartlett, director of the business and economics reporting program at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. The panel, which also included economists from J.P. Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank as well as two money managers, was sponsored Sept. 23 by the China Institute in New York and Continental Airlines.
“We were discussing the events of the past few weeks, the collapse of Wall Street as we know it,” Prof. Bartlett said. “We answered questions about why it happened so quickly, whether the reintegration of investment banks with commercial banks is a good thing, the impact on the global economy, and whether Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s bailout plan is wise.”
