Peter Beinart, editor-at-large of The New Republic and a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, has been appointed an associate professor at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and the CUNY Graduate Center. He will start in September.

At the J-School he will develop a new course on national political reporting and teach opinion writing.  At the Graduate Center he will be an instructor in the political science department.

In addition to his work for The New Republic, where he was editor from 1999 to 2006, Beinart is a regular contributor to Time magazine and The Daily Beast and writes a monthly column for The Washington Post. His second book on U.S. foreign policy will be published next year.

He graduated from Yale University and was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford.
