Several students in the Class of ‘09 have won important scholarships based on their outstanding work and potential.

• Time, Inc. Scholars — $10,000 scholarships to five students: Rima Abdelkader, Valerie Lapinski, Carla Murphy, Maya Pope-Chappell, and Michael Reicher.
• Guy P. Gannet Scholarship from the Maine Community Foundation — $10,000 scholarship to H’Rina Detroy.
• Foreign Press Association — $5,000 scholarship to Damiano Beltrami.
• Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism — $4,000 scholarships to Karina Ioffee and Kate Zhao. (Only eight students in the U.S. were awarded these business journalism scholarships — and two of them are at CUNY!)
