Prof. Sarah Bartlett Moderating John Jay Workshop, Judging Awards Competition
Prof. Sarah Bartlett, who directs the Business & Economics and Urban Reporting programs at the CUNY J-School, will moderate a workshop on financial crime reporting at a conference April 2 at CUNY’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Called “Watching the Watchdogs: Best Practices in Financial Crime Reporting,” Bartlett’s panel will also feature Michelle Leder, editor-in-chief of Footnoted.org, and Deborah Potter, executive director of Newslab at the University of Maryland. The two-day conference is titled, “How Do They Get Away With It? Tracking Financial Crime in the New Era.”
Bartlett is also keeping busy as a judge for the 2009 New York Press Club Journalism Awards. The contest considers entries in more than 20 categories of reporting from newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, and web sites operating in the New York metropolitan area. Winners will be recognized at an awards dinner in June.
