The American Lawyer magazine is currently seeking full-time journalism interns for summer 2010. During a 10-12 week program, interns work on both the print magazine and the online Am Law Daily (americanlawyer.com). Their responsibilities include reporting and writing short news articles as well as doing factchecking and other research. This is a paid internship.

We look for candidates with significant experience in hard news reporting, excellent news writing skills, and a strong interest in business journalism. A demonstrated interest in legal issues and/or law firms is a plus.

Online and in print, American Lawyer publishes tough, insightful reporting on the largest law firms in the U.S. and the world. American Lawyer’s coverage of legal business, litigation, pro bono, and international arbitration has won numerous Neal and American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) awards in recent years.

Interns are paid $400 per week. Start date can vary from mid-May to late June. Interns are based in the magazine’s offices in New York, NY.

To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, and 5-6 published clips to Emily Barker, Deputy Editor, The American Lawyer, at ebarker@alm.com or ALM Media, 120 Broadway, New York, NY 10271. Applications should be submitted by February 19, 2010.
