Things got off to a running start with the Marathon, and haven’t stopped:

  • Almudena Toral’s story about a marathoner from Spain made the Spanish newspaper La Gaceta.
  • Talk about a relay race: Carla Candia, Michael Cohen, Juan DeJesus, Musikilu Mojeed, Walter Smith-Randolph, Rochana Rapkins, Jordan Shakeshaft, Andrea Swalec and Margaret Teich contributed vignettes and/or pictures to a marathon package. You’ll find their work on the News Service.
  • Samantha Stark’s video and story about the soundtrack of the race made the Fort Greene edition of The Local. Ben Fractenberg’s slideshow on Wallabout also can be found on The Local, while Joe Walker wrote about a City Council candidate who was booted from the ballot. Kerri MacDonald’s piece about a zoning dispute in Maplewood is featured in The Local’s New Jersey edition.
  • Jenni Avins’ story about a backlash in some quarters over the pink Breast Cancer Awareness branding push made VanityFair.com
  • Lindsay Lazarsky’s feature about a Bronx block with a hip past found a home in the Mott Haven Herald.
  • Jessica Simeone’s story about personal trainers for children was featured in the New York Post.
  • Shane Dixon Kavanaugh’s feature about a sci-fi-influenced band that’s trying to save rock-and-roll made The Brooklyn Paper. Damiano Beltrami, meanwhile, wrote a piece for the paper about teachers undergoing handwriting training.
  • Maya Pope-Chappell’s fall movie roundup got nice play in Essence.
  • Sergey Kadinsky’s story about the mayoral race made CBSNews.com.
  • Matt Robinson’s article about the capman of the Bronx found a home in the Daily News. Maria Clark shared a byline on this story about a slaying in Brooklyn. Mark Morales contributed to a piece about Yankee fans who fancy themselves a buzz-cut above the rest.

Congrats to all – and keep ‘em coming!
