Charlie Rose to Headline J-School Awards Dinner on May 10th
Charlie Rose, the public television host known for his indepth one-on-one conversations and roundtable discussions with prominent guests, will receive a lifetime achievement award from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism at its third annual Awards for Excellence in Journalism gala on Monday, May 10th. The event, which will also honor four alumni from the recently graduated Class of 2009, raises money for student scholarships at the four-year-old school. 
The Emmy Award winner is executive editor and anchor of “Charlie Rose,” the nightly one-hour interview program that airs on more than 200 PBS affiliates throughout the U.S. He is also a contributing correspondent to the CBS news program “60 Minutes” and writes the “At the Table” question and answer column for Bloomberg BusinessWeek magazine.
Rose entered television journalism fulltime in 1974, when he became the managing editor of the PBS series “Bill Moyers’ International Report.” He was born in Henderson, NC and graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in History and a J.D. from the School of Law.
The 2009 graduates being honored at the awards presentation include Jenni Avins, Aisha Al-Muslim, and Collin Orcutt. Karina Ioffee will receive the Frederic Wiegold Award, named for a senior editor at Bloomberg Markets magazine who passed away in 2008. The CUNY Graduate School of Journalism is the only publicly supported graduate school of journalism in the Northeast.
