Greg David’s weekly column for Crain’s New York Business has won a Best in Business Journalism Award for 2009 from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers (SABEW).

The former longtime editor of Crain’s, David now directs the Business & Economics Reporting Program for the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. Crain’s submitted four of David’s columns, including pieces on the real reason Wall Street made so much money in 2009, how restrictive zoning has ruined the garment center without saving manufacturing jobs, and the likely severity of the recession in New York City.

David will collect his award on March 20th in Phoenix at SABEW’s annual conference at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. This is the second time in three years that he has won a SABEW prize in the category of “Columns for Weekly Publications.”
