New York Financial Writers Choose Anand and Eisenpress, ’12, for $3,000 Scholarships
Business concentration students Anika Anand and Cara Eisenpress have won $3,000 scholarships from the New York Financial Writers Association.
The organization awarded 10 scholarships to New York area students interested in careers in business and financial journalism. The other winners were students at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and NYU.
Anand and Eisenpress, who completed their second semester at the CUNY J-School at the end of May, are just starting their summer internships. Eisenpress will be working at Crain’s New York Business, while Anand, who won a Dow Jones New Fund business reporting internship, has been placed at California Watch, a nonprofit investigative group at UC Berkeley funded by the Center for Investigative Reporting.
Eisenpress, who graduated from Harvard in 2007 with an honors degree in Literature, is co-founder of the food and lifestyle blog, Big Girls, Small Kitchen, and co-author of In the Small Kitchen: 100 Recipes from Our Year of Cooking in the Real World. Anand graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in May 2010 with a degree in journalism and did internships at Salon, Business Insider, and msnbc.com’s business section.
They will receive their awards this month at a NYFWA event at the CUNY J-School.
