Katie Honan, ’10, and Adjunct Melanie Lefkowitz in Line for New York Emmy Award
Class of 2010 graduate Katie Honan and adjunct faculty member Melanie Lefkowitz are part of a team at WNBC-TV that was nominated today for a New York Emmy Award in the category of Breaking News.
Their story covered a shooting near the Empire State Building on Aug. 24, 2012 in which a disgruntled former employee of an import company shot and killed an ex-coworker before being gunned down by the police. Nine bystanders were wounded in the crossfire.
Honan is social media editor and Lefkowitz, who teaches Craft of Journalism, is web editor at the local news station.
The 56th Annual New York Emmy Awards will be presented at a black tie gala on Sunday, Apr. 14 at the Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square.
