This course will enable students to become fluent in the language of Wall Street and financial markets and give them the skills necessary to report and write stories on that subject. The course will explain how the stock, bond, and currency markets work and the role that Wall Street firms, exchanges and other regulatory institutions play. Students will be exposed to the latest trends in retail and institutional investing, and will learn how to cover everything from mutual funds to hedge funds to mergers and acquisitions. The course will be enhanced by a field trip to the New York Stock Exchange and visits from journalists and industry experts.
