Sample Entrance Exam

In addition to the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), selected applicants will be required to take our admissions exam. For applicants in the New York Metro area, there will be several weekday and weekend test dates in the month of February on our campus or at the CUNY Graduate Center. For applicants who are overseas or who are outside of New York, testing can be arranged with an assigned monitor or CUNY representative. More information about the exam will be sent out by email in January and testing will take place in February and March 2007.

The exam is designed to give us an idea of your interest in current affairs, your analytical and editing skills, and your ability to write clearly and concisely in a timed environment.

For an example of the types of exercises and questions on the exam, please see the sample exam [PDF].
