Alvarez, Nina – Adjunct Faculty, Broadcast News Writing & Production

Nina Alvarez is a documentary filmmaker, journalist, and multimedia producer. Alvarez produced and directed the feature documentary, “Very Young Girls” (Showtime 2009). A former producer of the ABC News network, she has covered Latin America and Latinos in the United States. She has also covered the Middle East, Central Asia, Africa, and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq for major U.S. news networks, as well as Telemundo, Univision, and MTV News. Her work has been awarded the RFK Award, the Cine Golden Eagle, the DuPont Award, the Gates Fellowship, the International Reporting Fellowship, and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists Fellowship, and she has received three nominations for national Emmy awards for news. She has a B.A. in Latin American Studies from NYU.
