Ernabel Demillo is a veteran television broadcaster turned college professor. She helped start the journalism program at St. Peter’s College in Jersey City in 2008, where she currently teaches. She is also co-host of CUNY-TV’s new science magazine show, “Science and U.”
Ernabel began her career as a general assignment reporter for the Orange County News Channel, one of the country’s first 24-hour news channels. While there, she covered some of the decades biggest stories, including the Laguna Beach fire that destroyed 400 homes, the Northridge Earthquake, and the funeral of former President Richard Nixon. She was also one of the news crews chasing O.J. Simpson on the 405 Freeway. She went on to work for the CBS affiliate, KOVR-13 in Sacramento, Calif., where she covered the Unabomber and Richard Allen Davis (Polly Klaas) trials.
She left California for New York when she joined FOX-5’s morning show, “Good Day New York”. She spent close to a decade on the show. She was a reporter and fill-in anchor and covered breaking news, features, investigative stories, consumer news, and entertainment. She won several awards, including a Folio for Best Environmental Reporting. After leaving FOX, she had brief stints at MSNBC and was a news reader for Court TV.
Ernabel grew up in San Francisco and received her B.A. in Journalism and International Relations from the University of Southern California and her Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
