Judith Watson is the former New York bureau chief of United Press International who recently served as special assistant to CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein overseeing new projects for The City University of New York.
During her fifteen years at UPI, she was also the New York State editor and Albany capitol bureau chief. Watson has worked as a columnist, reporter, and print and broadcast editor.
Watson is a past president of the New York State Society of Newspaper Editors. She has won the Albany Legislative Correspondents award for excellence in state government reporting and is an honoree of the Women’s Press Club of New York State.
Watson has taught as an adjunct professor of Journalism at CUNY’s Hunter College. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Pomona College.
