Sacha, Bob – Multimedia Guest Editor, Interactive Journalism III
Bob Sacha started as a newspaper photographer, built a successful career as a freelance magazine photojournalist, and after winning a John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Fellowship to study multimedia and film at Ohio University, is now a digital documentary producer with the New York production studio, MediaStorm, where he has just been nominated for two national news Emmy awards. “Bearing Witness,” his first multimedia project at MediaStorm, won best Multimedia Feature in the 2008 Online News Association competition and also first place in multimedia at the 2008 New York Photo Festival.
After working as a staff photographer for the Philadelphia Inquirer, he moved to New York in 1982 for a staff photographer position at ABC News. Shortly after, he started Bob Sacha Photography and worked for many magazines in the U.S. and Europe as well as some top 500 corporations. He was a contributing photographer at Life magazine and a contract photographer at Fortune and National Geographic. He has won numerous awards for his magazine work, including Communication Arts, Picture of the Year, Alfred Eisentaedt Award for Magazine Photography, and the Kodak Award of Excellence.
Sacha has taught master classes at the Maine Media Workshops, Santa Fee Photography Workshops, and Toscana Photo Workshops in Italy, and is a regular photojournalism instructor at the International Center of Photography in New York. He graduated from Syracuse University with a dual degree in psychology and photojournalism.
