Schiumo, John – Adjunct Faculty, Broadcast News Writing & Production

Emmy Award-winning journalist John Schiumo currently hosts “The Call” on New York 1 News, the industry’s first interactive newscast where viewers decide the lead story. Schiumo has reported and anchored in New York City for 12 years. He reported live from the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, from the Vatican for Pope John Paul II’s funeral, and from Nova Scotia on the crash of Swiss Air Flight 111.

Schiumo graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a B.A. in Communication and Media Study. In years past, he lectured on reporting and producing television news at CUNY’s The City College in Harlem.
