Pamintuan, Tina – Director, Radio Projects and Initiatives

Tina Pamintuan began her journalism career at National Public Radio where her favorite task was writing science and adventure scripts for Radio Expeditions. In 2001, she was part of a four-person production and editorial team that won a Dupont-Columbia Silver Baton for the yearlong series, The Geographic Century.

Tina is founder of X-treme Youth Zone Media, a documentary training program for urban youth. Her media projects have received grants and support from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation, the Joan T. Mitchell Foundation, Third Coast International Audio Festival, the Hall Farm Center for Arts and Education, the Asian American Journalists Association, and the National Youth in Radio Training Project. In 2002, she won the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies Writing Award. She was chosen as a 2006 writer-in-residence at the Hedgebrook Writers Retreat in Washington State. In June 2006, she was an associate resident at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
