Melinda Wenner Moyer is a freelance science and health writer based in Brooklyn, N.Y., who focuses on the nexus of health, the environment, and policy. She has written for publications including Scientific American, Slate, Mother Jones, O: The Oprah Magazine, Glamour, Redbook, Men’s Health, and Better Homes and Gardens. In 2009, she won an American Academy of Emergency Physicians Journalism Award for “Cold Relief,” a feature published in Popular Science. Since 2010, her blog “Body Politic” has been featured on the Public Library of Science (PLoS) blog network. Moyer majored in cell and molecular biology at the University of Michigan and worked for three years in biotechnology before becoming a journalist. She has a Master’s degree from NYU’s Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program (SHERP).
