Tanzina Vega, ‘07, has been named host of “The Takeaway,” the syndicated public radio news affairs show. Vega replaces John Hockenberry, who was accused of sexual harassment and resigned last year.

“At this critical moment in our nation’s history, when America is so polarized, public media has an opportunity and a mandate to bring people together to debate, discuss, and share experiences and perspectives that have been buried for too long,” Laura Walker, president and CEO of New York Public Radio, said in a statement. “With her deep expertise unpacking tough subjects with thoughtful insight and analysis, Tanzina is the perfect person to lead this urgent national conversation.”

Vega, who will begin working on the radio program on May 7, has contributed to CNN, WNYC Radio, Reuters, and The New York Times, where she won an Emmy award in 2010 in the “new approaches to documentary” category.
