Job Opportunity: Tow-Knight Center Seeks a Community Organizer

The Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism seeks a results-driven organizer to manage a participatory community of news media leaders focused on creating and sustaining diversity, change, and professional development at journalism organizations.

Journalism experience and a four-year college degree are required, as are strong communication and organizational skills. Project management and community building experience are preferred.

The Community Organizer will:

  • Grow and foster community membership and engagement by helping to recruit new members and understand their professional priorities.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of opportunities to support diverse groups in media and create cultures and structures that embrace change.
  • Encourage active participation by group members in on- and off-line initiatives and discussions designed to meet members’ priorities.
  • Measure members’ satisfaction with the community, and work to increase it.
