Errol Louis was the featured guest on the inaugural episode of CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez’s new CUNY TV interview show, Café con Felo, which first aired on Feb. 17.
Louis, political anchor at Spectrum News NY1 and long-time adjunct professor at the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, spoke about teaching urban and political reporting and answered questions from J-School students.
When Matos Rodríguez asked him if there was an interview he wishes he could take back, Louis mentioned speaking to Donald Trump back in 2011 when he first started talking about running for president. “I didn’t think he was at all serious about it, but this was a chance for me to learn how to do a field interview. So I go down to talk to him…and you know…I wish I could get that back, knowing now what I didn’t know then, because after a few minutes of talking to him, I realized he didn’t know anything about the political questions I was going to ask him about.”
