Course Details

This 5-week, 1-credit advanced module explores blurring lines of where the role of publisher ends and platform begins. Students will focus on the nexus of social media and journalism, from the effects of Facebook’s algorithms to the role of analytics and metrics in newsrooms. We will examine current events through the lens of how stories perform on social, pointing out both the perils and opportunities within. The course will emphasize how to to better report and research stories, and how  to better distribute and engage with your audience.
