Introduction to Health Journalism

Course Details

Health journalists don’t just cover illness. They report on anything to do with the human body and psyche. In this required introductory class, students choose a beat — pain, life extension, the microbiome, health disparities, or love and relationships, to name a few examples. They master skills such as how to assess scientific claims, find and vet experts, connect with patients, and identify the emerging trends that don’t make it into medical press releases.
