This 10-week, 2-credit module explores how the news industry is using motion graphics to enhance their reports, and better communicate to their audiences. More specifically, this course gives a step-by-step approach to developing motion graphics for journalism uses, as well as an introduction to the fundamentals of visual communication techniques. Students learn everything from how to choose the right subject matter for this form, to storyboarding ideas, to designing style-frames. They also learn the fundamentals of After Effects, a industry-standard for motion graphics work, and use this software throughout the class for assignments, as well as a final project.
