This course will teach sports reporting to meet the needs of modern-day newsrooms, which need journalists who are well-versed in an array of sports, capable of executing stories across multiple platforms and in tune with how societal issues are reflected throughout sports. Students will job shadow a New York City-based reporter on assignment and they’ll cover events on their own to produced game stories, opinion pieces and longer profile/features. Students will also regularly analyze the news cycle and debate high-concept case studies from the world of sports journalism.
