SUMMARY:Alan Rusbridger: How The Guardian Remade News & What's Needed Now
DESCRIPTION:As editor-in-chief of The Guardian for 20 years\, Alan Rusbridger faced down digital challenges\, hostile governments\, and vicious newspaper competitors –and he lived to write about it all. \nRegister now to hear Rusbridger talk about his new memoir\, “Breaking News\,” with Washington Post media columnist Margaret Sullivan. They will grapple with how journalists prevail in a post-truth era and at the same time engage the public\, politicians and platforms. \nUnder Rusbridger’s leadership\, The Guardian went from being the UK’s ninth largest newspaper to a global news publisher which typically draws more than 100 million unique monthly visitors to its websites. It also broke a string of big investigative stories including the phone hacking by London tabloids and Edward Snowden’s leaking of National Security Agency documents. \nA networking reception will immediately follow the discussion. Please RSVP here.
