DESCRIPTION:Free virtual training \nSpeakers: Martina Guzman\, Founder\, Verdad AI tool\nTamoa Calzadilla\, Award-winning investigative journalist \nJoin us for a webinar on the AI tool VERDAD\, designed to strengthen reporting accuracy and trust. In this session\, Martina will demonstrate how VERDAD helps detect disinformation and what is trending across numerous Spanish-language radio stations in a select number of states. \nVERDAD offers journalists a powerful way to monitor\, analyze\, and validate stories in real time\, ensuring that the news shared with audiences is both truthful and relevant. \nThe training will cover the following: \n\nThe importance of radio as a source of news\nUnderstanding the risk of disinformation through community radio\nUsing VERDAD to detect disinformation\nPractical tips for investigative journalism using VERDAD\n\nThis training is designed for journalists who monitor Spanish-language radio and media\, as well as those tracking news and disinformation in other languages. \nRegister via Zoom \n\nSpeakers\n\nMartina Guzman is the founder of VERDAD: Verifying and Exposing Radio Disinformation and Discourse\, an AI tool that helps journalists track and investigate misinformation on Spanish-language and ethnic radio stations across the United States. She is a nationally recognized journalist and engagement specialist\, a former John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University\, and the founder of the Race & Justice Reporting Initiative at Wayne State University Law School. Martina spent more than two decades working at the intersection of race\, community\, and media\, and has trained journalists across the country on how to report with\, not just about\, communities\, and has deep ties to grassroots organizations in Detroit and beyond. She is the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants and a graduate of Columbia University’s Journalism School. \n\nTamoa Calzadilla is a co-founder of Acento Story Tank and an award-winning investigative journalist\, mentor\, and media leader with more than 25 years of experience leading high-impact teams in Latin America and the United States across investigative journalism\, fact-checking\, and media literacy. Her work focuses on strengthening information ecosystems that serve marginalized communities\, particularly Latino and Spanish-speaking audiences in the U.S. She directed Univision’s el Detector\, the first Spanish-language fact-checking platform in the country\, and was Editor in Chief of Factchequeado.com. She was named Journalist of the Year 2024 by the News Literacy Project and is a John S.
