If you already registered in Nov. or Dec. 2025\, you do not have to register again. \nInstructor: Danielle Meah\, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer\, Hearst \nIn today’s fast-changing digital environment\, journalists and community media professionals are increasingly exposed to online threats such as hacking\, phishing\, doxing\, surveillance\, and identity theft. \nA single security lapse can compromise sensitive sources\, disrupt publishing systems\, or erode audience trust. This 90-minute virtual training aims to equip community journalists with essential cybersecurity knowledge and practical tools to safeguard their data\, communications\, and digital presence. Participants will learn about: \n\nProtecting digital identities\nSecure communications\nDevice security\nData protection\nThreat context and awareness\n\nRegister for the digital safety training \nIf you have any questions\, contact ccm@journalism.cuny.edu. \n\nInstructor \nDanielle Meah is the Deputy CISO at Hearst\, leading enterprise security strategy and risk management. Previously\, she was Head of Cybersecurity at the Associated Press\, where she protected journalists across 190 countries and multiple conflict zones. Her experience includes leadership roles on Zoom’s Insider Risk team and Citibank’s Global Cyber Fusion Center\, overseeing 50 cyber intelligence and incident response professionals. Earlier\, Danielle worked at Booz Allen Hamilton assessing state-sponsored cyber threats for U.S. federal clients. She began her career at the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission. Danielle holds degrees from Hamilton College and George Washington University and is a registered Private Investigator.
