DESCRIPTION:Once a niche phenomenon\, prediction markets were first embraced by political junkies who wanted to bet on presidential elections. Now\, prediction markets are everywhere\, an unavoidable presence in politics\, sports\, culture\, and journalism. \nOn Tuesday\, Sept. 22\, the Newmark J-School will delve into the issue by examining what prediction markets are\, how they have become entangled in illegal activity like insider trading and legal but problematic practices in which savvy traders take advantage of average users\, and why journalism outlets are inking deals with the platforms. \nThe event will feature: \n\nRobert J.
