Join us for a conversation with Mohammed R. Mhawish, award-winning Palestinian journalist and writer from Gaza City, who reported from inside Gaza throughout the war and continues to report from exile. A contributor to The New Yorker and New York Magazine and the current Knight Press Freedom Fellow at the Newmark J-School’s Journalism Protection Initiative, Mohammed will discuss what he witnessed on the ground, what the view looks like from the outside, and what the fragile ceasefire, Trump’s “Board of Peace,” and the widening U.S.-Israel war with Iran mean for Gaza – and for the journalists still covering it.

This event is moderated by Peter Beinart, Professor of Journalism and Political Science, contributing opinion writer at the New York Times and Editor-at-Large of Jewish Currents.

Co-sponsored by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) and the Journalism Protection Initiative at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
