Join us for a free public screening of the Emmy-nominated documentary film, BaddDDD Sonia Sanchez, followed by a Q&A with special guests Sonia Sanchez and adjunct professor Sabrina Schmidt Gordon. Gordon co-directed, produced, and edited the film.
Poet, activist, and professor Sonia Sanchez has been on the front lines of art and activism for 60 years–teaching, writing, performing, protesting. A pioneer of the Black Arts Movement, she has harnessed her gift for words as a champion against racism, sexism and war, fusing art and activism and inspiring the spoken word and Hip-Hop art forms. But, her commitment to justice for all people has come at a cost. This intimate portrait captures the breadth of Sanchez’s rich and often unsettled life.
