DESCRIPTION:The Spanish-language program and the Tow-Knight Center at The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY proudly presents a lecture by Yochai Benkler\, the co-director of the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. \nBenkler will tackle the conventional model of journalistic objectivity\, arguing that when journalists try to be neutral in their reporting\, they are complicit in creating and spreading disinformation. \nIn addition\, Benkler will trace the history of political polarization and the radicalization of the Conservative movement in America. Their living as modern pariahs shows their fight for survivance and questions the country’s conservationist fame. You can watch the trailer here. \nAbout the filmmaker:\nAlvaro Torres Crespo is based in San José\, his hometown. He studied audiovisual production at the Northwest Film Center in Oregon\, and completed a Master’s degree in Film and Script at the University of Texas at Austin. His shorts\, both documentaries and fictions\, have participated in festivals in Central America and the United States. Álvaro is a professor of direction and direction of photography at the Film and Television School of the Veritas University.
