DESCRIPTION:The global supply chain has been upended\, and companies are scrambling to figure out how to source\, transport\, process\, store\, and distribute food. His work has appeared in publications across North America\, including Thomson Reuters\, BBC Travel\, CBC News\, and the New York Daily News. Alex lives in Canada with his wife and two cats. \nRachel Sapin is a business reporter covering commercial fishing\, aquaculture\, and seafood. During her time with IntraFish she has been interested in exploring the relationship between aquaculture and wild-caught seafood as well as the politics of food in general. Previously\, she has reported on Colorado state and local governments\, immigration\, refugees\, and veterans’ issues.

DESCRIPTION:The Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY will honor Errol Louis and Anna Wintour at its 13th annual Awards for Excellence on Tuesday\, May 19\, 2020\, at Cipriani 25 Broadway. \nFour alumni will also be recognized for their outstanding journalistic achievements.  Proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships and internships. \n“This annual dinner has been an opportunity for us to celebrate both great journalism and ensure that we can continue the school’s commitment to producing yet another generation of skilled\, ethically minded and diverse journalists\,” said Sarah Bartlett\, dean of the Newmark J-School. \nErrol Louis\, Spectrum News NY1 political anchor and CNN political commentator\, will receive the Distinguished Public Service to New York award.  Anna Wintour\, editor-in-chief of Vogue and U.S. artistic director and global content advisor of Condé Nast\, will be presented with the Excellence in Journalism award. \nLouis hosts “Inside City Hall\,” a nightly prime-time Spectrum News NY1 show about New York City politics\, featuring interviews with top political and cultural leaders.  He has moderated more than two dozen debates between candidates for mayor\, public advocate\, city and state comptroller\, state attorney general\, and the U.S. Senate and House. \nLouis was recently ranked #40 on the list of the 100 most powerful people in New York City politics. He is a longtime CNN contributor and writes for CNN.com.  He also writes a weekly column for The New York Daily News and hosts a weekly podcast\, “You Decide with Errol Louis.”  He is an adjunct professor of urban reporting at the Newmark J-School and co-editor of Deadline Artists\, a two-volume anthology of America’s greatest newspaper columns. \nWintour has held the position of editor-in-chief of Vogue since July 1988 and was appointed artistic director of Condé Nast in March 2013. She was recently named global content advisor of Condé Nast. \nShe is actively involved in philanthropic fundraising\, particularly for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute where she serves as an elective trustee of the institution and has raised more than $200 million.  She is also a founding committee member for the New York-Presbyterian Youth Anxiety Center. \nIn 2017\, Wintour was named Dame Commander (DBE) of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for her service to British journalism and fashion.  In 2011\, she was awarded the Légion d’Honneur by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.  U.S. President Barack Obama appointed Wintour to the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities in 2009.  She is the recipient of numerous awards for her leadership and charitable efforts. \nFor tickets and sponsorship information\, please contact Joan McCormick\, executive director of development\, at joan.mccormick@journalism.cuny.edu or 646-758-7795.
