In an era of shrinking local news coverage and growing news deserts\, the lack of a clear plan for leadership transition can threaten the survival of entire news outlets. When publishers or newsroom leaders retire or pass away without a succession plan\, communities risk losing vital sources of information altogether. \nThis 90-minute webinar will explore this crucial topic and provide practical guidance for sustaining community media organizations. Participants will learn the following: \nWhat succession planning is and why it matters for community media\nHow to implement succession planning effectively in small newsrooms\nModels and pathways for transferring leadership\nKey tools and resources\, including those available at no cost \nThe event will be held online using Zoom.
