SUMMARY:Black Media: Makers and Keepers of History
DESCRIPTION:Speakers:\nNehemiah Frank\, The Black Wall Street Times\nCash Michaels\, The Wilmington Journal\nMiya Williams Fayne\, PhD\, California State University Fullerton\nVenneikia Williams\, Free Press \nLast year\, the Black Media Initiative commissioned a comparative content analysis of the Black press and U.S. mainstream media. We found that Black media connects present events to the historical record\, keeping track of Black experience. The word “history” itself is uniquely prevalent in Black media across a diversity of topics when compared to mainstream media.
