DESCRIPTION:After more than a month of intensive\, hands-on training\, a select cohort of Doc ’24 graduates and alumni from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism’s Documentary Specialization are ready to share their bold\, urgent stories with the world. \nJoin us for the culminating afternoon of Doc Pitch & Launch\, open to the public and the press. \nIndustry Panel: The Power and Potential of the Short Doc \n1:30 – 2:30 PM\nModerated by award-winning filmmaker and Doc Program Director Yoruba Richen\, this discussion brings together leading voices from the documentary field to explore the role of short documentaries in independent journalism\, innovation in the field\, and what’s next for emerging nonfiction storytellers. \nPanelists are: \n\n Justine Simons\, Executive Producer for digital video at TIME Magazine.\n Sweta Vohra\, Head of Production at Multitude Films.\n Sarah Lash\, Independent Producer\, frmr Executive at The New Yorker.\n Bonnie Bertram\, Senior Producer at Retro Report.\n Alexandra Garcia\, Supervising producer at The New York Times Op-Docs.\n\nPanelists will share insights from their organizations\, spotlight recent short doc successes\, and discuss how we can continue to expand access\, support\, and opportunity for diverse creators.
