DESCRIPTION:Instructor: Adi Talwar\, Photojournalist \nIn today’s fast-evolving media landscape\, the smartphone has become an indispensable tool for journalists – whether capturing a single image for a news article or crafting a photo essay that unfolds over multiple photographs. \nThis 90-minute training will equip participants with practical techniques to create strong\, engaging photographs using the phone they already carry. \nThis training will cover the following: \n\nPhotojournalism ethics based on AP guidelines\nPreparing for an assignment\nSmartphone camera basics with native camera app\nBeing aware of light and shadows\nComposition and framing\nPost processing photos on your phone with native editing software\nImage file formats JPEG\, HEIC\, RAW\nOther camera and post-processing apps\nGear tips\, e.g. monopod\, tripod\, phone cage\, lens add-ons\n\nRegister for the photo training \nIf you have any questions\, contact ccm@journalism.cuny.edu. \n\nInstructor \nAdi Talwar is an award-winning New York City based photojournalist with a background in design\, engineering and art. For over a decade\, Adi’s photography has centered around civic issues\, communities and individuals. He is a regular contributor to CityLimits.org. Adi has also been published in the Norwood News\, The New York Times\, The Wall Street Journal\, New York Daily News\, WNYC\, MetroFocus\, and Gothamist\, to name a few. Over the years\, Adi has participated in solo and group exhibitions. Adi was a BRIO (Bronx Recognizes its Own) recipient in 2020.
