Prior to joining the CUNY J-School, Alberto Vourvoulias-Bush was an Op/Ed columnist and visiting scholar in online journalism at the American Academy in Rome.
He helped found and launch foxnewslatino.com, an English-language news site for Latinos. He has also served as corporate executive editor of impreMedia, the largest Spanish-language news publisher in the United States, and executive editor of El Diario/La Prensa, the country’s oldest Spanish-language newspaper.
He was deputy editor of TIME Magazine’s Latin America edition and the founding editor of Time Americas, Time’s Spanish and Portuguese language editions.
Before turning to journalism, Vourvoulias-Bush was a research associate on Latin America for the Council of Foreign Relations in New York and taught Latin American politics at Yale University and NYU.
Vourvoulias-Bush holds an M. Phil. and an M.A. from Yale and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
