Alex Laughlin is an audio producer at BuzzFeed News, where she produces weekly news podcasts and programming for smart speakers.
She was previously a social media editor at The Washington Post, where she helped run the main Facebook and Twitter accounts and led enterprise engagement projects. She also created Other: Mixed Race in America, and Pay Up, a Slack community about the wage gap. She was one of ONA’s 2016 MJ Bear fellows. In her spare time, she likes to run and read lots of books. She’s also on the board of advisors for Self Evident, an upcoming independent podcast about Asian American identity.
She has spoken on panels and taught workshops for the Asian American Journalists Association, the Online News Association, Columbia Journalism School, New York University, and more.
She grew up in a military family, so she’s kind of from everywhere, but she graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in women’s studies.
