Alicia Chang is a deputy health and science editor at The Associated Press in New York.
She previously served as the AP’s Los Angeles-based science writer for more than a decade. She began her journalism career as an AP intern in Detroit and has worked in the news cooperative’s bureaus in South Carolina and upstate New York.
A native of Ecuador, she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Queens College of the City University of New York. She was a 2018 fellow at the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism and a 2016 science journalism fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
