Alicia Chang is an editor at The Associated Press specializing in health and science.
She previously served as the AP’s Los Angeles-based science and space correspondent. She began her journalism career as an AP intern in Detroit and worked stints in the news cooperative’s South Carolina and upstate New York bureaus.
A native of Ecuador, she earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from CUNY Queens College. She was a 2018 entrepreneurial journalism fellow at the Newmark J-School and a 2016 science journalism fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
She is a contributing author to “A Tactical Guide to Science Journalism” and has taught summer writing workshops for MIT’s HBCU Science Journalism Fellowship.
