Amy Dunkin joined the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY in January 2008 after a long career as a magazine and newspaper reporter and editor.

She is current serving as interim assistant dean for administration overseeing Academic Operations, Campus Services, Public Safety, and Technology. She is also the COVID campus liaison.

Previously, she was director of academic operations in charge of the school’s human resources activities. She also edits the J-School website, assists with external school communications, handles accreditation-related matters, and serves as secretary of the Governance Council. She has also served as campus Title IX Coordinator.

Amy came to CUNY from BusinessWeek magazine, where she supervised the personal finance and lifestyle coverage; founded one of its first blogs, Working Parents; managed the summer internship program, and led a successful campaign for company-wide paid adoption benefits.

Prior to that, she was a municipal and business reporter for The Record newspaper in northern New Jersey.

She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the State University of New York’s University at Buffalo with a B.A. in English and was editor-in-chief of the student newspaper.
