Gail Gove is the Chief Counsel of News for Reuters, where she is responsible for domestic and international litigation and all legal issues arising out the newsroom. Among other topics, she provides counseling on news gathering, pre-publication review and threats of litigation, access to information, ethics and intellectual property issues.
Before joining Reuters, Gove was Associate General Counsel to Dow Jones, the publisher of The Wall Street Journal and other publications, where she also handled litigation and advised reporters and editors on media law. She was a media defense lawyer and litigator at the law firm of Hogan & Hartson, LLP; law clerk for a federal judge to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and a fellowship attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington.
She attended Whitman and Oberlin Colleges, and is a graduate of New York University School of Law. Gove is an adjunct professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
