Jamilah King joined BuzzFeed News as deputy inequality editor in 2021 after four years at Mother Jones, where she was host of the Mother Jones Podcast and the race and justice reporter, writing primarily about how Black women engage with political power. That work led her to be featured in the recent Showtime documentary, “We Need to Talk About Cosby.”

Her commentary was adapted by Alicia Keys and Beyoncé for the award-winning video #23Ways and her writing has also appeared in The Washington Post, the California Sunday Magazine, Salon, and Fusion.

As a senior staff writer at Mic, she covered the formation of the Movement for Black Lives. As a senior editor at Colorlines, she covered the intersections of race and tech policy and maintained an arts and culture blog.
