Joan Barry McCormick joined the Newmark J-School as executive director of development in November 2019 after serving as vice president for major gifts at The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Prior to that position, she was the vice president for institutional advancement at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y.
McCormick has built major and principal giving programs for healthcare and higher education institutions including the Saint Peter’s Healthcare System, the National Kidney Foundation, NYU Stern School of Business, and Rutgers University. She has also worked on capital campaigns ranging from $5 million to $1 billion.
McCormick earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Mass Media from Rutgers University and a Master of Public Administration from Kean University. She has taught at Essex County College, Kean University, and Rutgers University. McCormick has made presentations at advancement conferences and led fundraising workshops for several non-profit organizations.
