As Director of Editorial Projects, John Mancini oversees the Newmark J-School’s NYCity News Service and its reporting and writing program. In that role, he also seeks partnership opportunities in the industry to help our students get published, and he works closely on the Mott Haven Herald and Hunts Point Express, the two Bronx newspapers produced by students.
Mancini came to the J-School in October 2019 with a rich array of reporting and editing experiences across several decades – in print, television, and digital media. Most recently, he served as the global news editor of Quartz.
He has been senior director of digital newsgathering at NBC News, an assistant managing editor at the AP, and the editor of Newsday. He also worked at NY1 as an on-air reporter, was metropolitan editor at the New York Post and founding editor-in-chief of the Long Island Voice.
