In his dual role, John Mancini oversees the Newmark J-School’s NYCity News Service and its reporting and writing program.

Mancini came to the J-School in October 2019 with a rich array of reporting and editing experiences across several decades – in print, television, and digital media. Most recently, he served as the global news editor of Quartz.

He has been senior director of digital newsgathering at NBC News, an assistant managing editor at the AP, and the editor of Newsday. He also worked at NY1 as an on-air reporter, was metropolitan editor at the New York Post and founding editor-in-chief of the Long Island Voice.

He has been a Pulitzer Prize winner and Pulitzer finalist as part of teams at New York Newsday and Newsday, as well as an Emmy winner with his NBC unit.
