Luis Miguel Echegaray is the host and creative producer of Qué Golazo, CBS Sports soccer podcast, and an on-air analyst for CBS Sports HQ as part of its coverage for UEFA Champions League, Concacaf and all other soccer leagues and tournaments. Echegaray was formerly a writer and head of Latino/Hispanic audience for Sports Illustrated and Planet Fútbol as well as co-host of Planet Fútbol TV. He also served as the first full-time Latinx journalist for The Guardian U.S helping the organization grow and develop a stronger relationship with the U.S.-Hispanic community. He has also worked with TUDN and Telemundo Deportes as part of Copa America back in 2019, where he co-hosted a special show on Twitter. Before working in media, Echegaray spent 15 years as an actor and television writer. Previous filmwork includes Mutant Chronicles, a sci-fi movie alongside John Malkovich, Thomas Jane and Ron Perlman. He has a BA in FIlm and Theater from Roehampton University in London and attended the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Echegaray is Peruvian, but was unexpectedly born in England during a family vacation. He left Peru when he was 11 and consequently moved to the U.K, where he grew up until moving to the states. Luis Miguel graduated from our inaugural Engagement Journalism MA program in 2015 and now teaches Social Media Tools.
Born in England from Peruvian parents, Echegaray moved to the U.S. in 2003 to attend acting school. In a span of 13 years, he was a professional actor and writer living in London, Los Angeles, and New York City, having performed in theater, film, and television.
