Paul Sunda joined the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY in February 2023 as the assistant dean of administration and finance, overseeing all administrative and operational aspects of the school. These include the financial management; state of the facility; safety, caliber, and satisfaction of the workforce; compliance with university and external regulations; and technological infrastructure.
Paul has extensive experience in higher education administration, spearheading quality improvement initiatives focused on operational effectiveness and increasing efficiency, accuracy, and access to reporting mechanisms.
He recently served as associate vice president of business operations at New Jersey City University. In that role, Paul worked with procurement, facilities, human resources, and technology offices to address a broad range of strategic, managerial, and operational issues. Previously, he served as assistant dean at the School of Engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. Between 2004 and 2017, he served in roles within executive programs at New York University and Baruch College.
Paul’s professional interests include strategic planning and execution, systems improvement, organizational development, and expanded access to institutional resources for students, staff, and faculty.
Paul holds a Master of Science degree in Organizational Behavior from New York University, a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Baruch College, and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from John Jay College.
