Ryan McNeill is a journalist assigned to Reuters global data team.
Since joining Reuters in 2012, he has worked on stories about sea level rise, the underground market for adopted children, income inequality and the explosion of a fertilizer plant in Texas.
His analysis of thousands of online postings was part of “The Child Exchange,” a finalist for the 2014 Pulitzer Prize in investigative journalism.
More recently, his analysis of millions of hourly tide gauge records dating back as far as the 1920s showed that flooding is drastically increasing up and down the nation’s coasts.
Previously, he was computer-assisted reporting editor at The Dallas Morning News, where he worked on investigations of then-Gov. Rick Perry’s land dealings and administration of a state-run venture capital fund.
He has also worked for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and The Oklahoman.
He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University.
