Here are the latest fruits of our reporters’ labors:

•Kevin Sheehan’s feature on the quirky sports scene in Lower Manhattan made the cover of Our Town Downtown.

•Amy Kraft’s article about the closing of Borders found a home on DNAInfo.

•The latest from the Mott Haven Herald includes Claudia Bracholdt’s story about problems at Samuel J. Gompers High School, Gwen McClure’s piece about plans to expand services at a neighborhood health center and Sarah Pizon’s feature about a shipping company that specializes in sending packages to West Africa.

•The Harper-Long Craft I class’ lunchtime look at Brooklyn soup kitchens and food pantries got nice play on City Limits’ site and pickup by MetroFocus. Contributors included: Sarah Amandolare, Anika Anand, Althea Chang, Elbert Chu, Tom DiChristopher, Raed El Rafei, Tristan Hallman, Jesse Leon, Ajai Raj, Jackie Snow, Jane Teeling, Taylor Tepper, Alexander Tucciarone and Colin Weatherby.

•Peter Moskowitz’ story about the boys’ step team at Brooklyn Tech made The New York Times’ and WNYC’s new SchoolBook blog.

•Speaking of The Times, the latest on The Local includes contributions by, among others: Roxanna Asgarian, Martin Burch, Liza Eckert, Sean Flynn, Celia Gorman, Menglin Huang, Martin Leung, Lisa Mahapatra, Tierney McAfee, Susan Rohwer, Jorteh Senah, Rebecca Sesny, Mary Shell, Joe Stepansky, Christine Streich, Mitch Trinka, Brenna Walton and Amanda Woods.

•How’s this for J-School synergy: Elbert Chu wrote an article for Wired Academic about a new tech-oriented high school in Brooklyn. The site paired his piece with Elis Estrada and Annais Morales’ News Service video story about the school.

•Speaking of the News Service, Alcione Gonzalez and Judy Le teamed on a video piece about the opening of Jane’s Carousel. Christina Diaz and Brendaliss Gonzalez paired on a video story about the annual Park(ing) Day displays.

•Monica Rozenfeld’s story about the Prison Yoga Project made Bed-Stuy Patch.

 

A sampling from our Alumni Corner:

•Jenni Avins turned a surprise performance by Bono at the Lenox Lounge into a post for New York magazine.

•NBCChicago.com, the site edited by Andrew Greiner, won an award Saturday night at the Online News Association confab.

•Mike Reicher, reporting for the Daily Pilot, put together a three-part print series and an accompanying video about families abandoning a neighborhood school in Mesa Verde, CA. The series starts here.
